As we have already written, to win in multiple-deck games in new york, the player must increase the amount of his bet in favorable situations. Otherwise, he will waste time and money in lottery.
We have definitely observed that a player can learn quite quickly and easily how to vary the bet according to the count. Yet, the same player will usually have difficulties in varying correctly the playing strategy. This is quite natural, since, in general, one has more time to make betting decisions. In any case, this is why we present first the betting strategy and afterward the playing strategy. The player may, of course, use the betting strategy given here and the basic strategy for online lottery playing decisions. This does not mean, however, that the player should not make the necessary effort to learn the main-count playing strategy given in the following sections. The same running index is used for both betting and playing decisions. If, in addition to the betting strategy presented in this section, the player insures when the running index is adequate and uses the main-count playing strategy his total gain will be increased (see also the remarks at the end of this section).

Players at Blackjack Table

Nevertheless, the player should be aware that in actual games he might be unable to use the tables exactly as they are written. Casino owners, pit bosses, etc., are not very happy to see skillful players and winners at their blackjack tables. Most of them know that adequate bet variation is a characteristic of skillful play. They will, probably, take action against the player who varies the amount of his bet too much and too often. This is why the player should try to “disguise” his play as much as possible.
When the conditions do not seem favorable the new york lottery player must reduce the 1 to 12 bet range. In single-deck games it is enough to vary the bet from 1 to 4 or from 1 to 2. In fact, the player who masters the main-count playing strategy, should be able to win in single-deck games without varying the bet. The player’s expectation that is, the player’s advantage or disadvantage depends upon the rules under which the game is played, among others. Since many rule variations are encountered in casino games, we need more than one betting table. At a given moment of play, the player’s expectation also depends on the value of the running index. The betting tables given below are based on the above observations and on the relation between the increase in the running index and the corresponding change in the player’s expectation. Certain practical aspects of the blackjack game were also taken into consideration in the preparation of the tables.
We shall now give the first betting table. It should be used in four- deck games dealt from more than two decks and played under basic rules.
Table 1 should be read as follows: The player should bet I unit if the running index is less than +5. He should bet 2 units if the running index is +5 or more, but less than +7. He should bet 4 units if the running index is +7 or more, but less than +10. He should bet 8 units if the running index is +10 or more, but less than +14. Finally, he should bet 12 units if the running index is +14 or more.
